Spring Nail Polish!

 Hi Lovelies!

For my first post I thought I'd share some new nail polish! I recently got rid of a lot of old nail polishes and ended up with very few. All of the ones I kept happen to be darker, fall-like colors so I really wanted to get some lighter, more cheerful colors for spring. So I ended up getting these:

OPI $8.50 ea, China Glaze $7.00 ea. (+bogo) at Beauty Brands.

China Glaze in 023 White on White

Lol. Odd lighting + white nail polish = oompa loompa hands!
An obviously white color. I like it because it's a rather soft white; not as stark as some others. The first coat was a little streaky but the second one evened everything out nicely. Some people are not into white nail polish but I like it! I think it can add an interesting, mod touch to your look.

OPI in NL R31 Sweet Memories

A very light, very sheer baby pink. I ended up using one coat of Maybelline nail polish in 40 Blushing Bride first and then adding two coats of Sweet Memories to make the color more milky. For a very opaque pastel pink I'd use two coats of White on White first and then one of Sweet Memories (below).
Soft pink nails are always great for spring.

The color here looks very white but it's noticeably pink irl.

Just look at it!
I'm in love with this color! It's a beautiful, bright, coral-y pink. I'll probably wear this a lot during the summer too!

Glorious.
This gorgeous color is a dark cherry thing of beauty. A darker berry, spring color for those of us who like dark nails year round! This wold also definitely work for fall and winter.

I thought I'd also include what products I use as a base and top coat.

Lately I've been using OPI Ridge Filler as a base. I like that it makes the surface of my nails smoother. I tend to have trouble with nail polish looking very streaky and wearing this first has helped a lot. It also provides a light matte base to put nail polish on top of.
I use Seche Vite as a top coat. I know I'm not being very original with that one but hey, it works!
It does dry very fast and has a nice glossy finish but I also really like that it tends to fix some imperfections or slight streakiness on the surface of your last layer of nail polish (i.e. your nail touched fabric before it dried completely and has an unintentional pattern to it).

Overall, I think I picked a good range of light to dark colors appropriate for spring. Towards the summer I'll probably get some brighter colors and I'll be sure to share those as well!

Let me know what nail polishes you guys will be sporting during the spring season and/or your favorite nail products I should try myself!
